Government persists on road switch in September

APIA: 2 July 2009 - The government is persistent on commencing the Road Switch as set down for September 7th. This is despite the Courts decision to grant the People Against the Switch (PASS) their day in Court and the call to delay the switch until the Court has decided on the matter.


Government to amend Electoral Act for stability

APIA: 2 July 2009 - The Government will consider further amendments to the Electoral Act following the courts decision yesterday that quashed the Speakers decision for nine MPs to face by-elections having formed a new political party. The amendments will close any loopholes in the law and disallow MPs switching sides and causing instability in parliament.
