Alleged flag burner pleads not guilty
APIA: The 31 year old charged of willfully damaging the Samoan flag by setting it to fire has pleaded a not gulity. Fa’atuai Tapuaiga Paepae, of Mulivai, Safata appeared for mention before the District Court this morning.
Defense Counsel Leuluaialii Tasi Malifa entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the defendant to the two charges he faces of assault and willful damage.
The hearing has been scheduled for the 1st August. Prosecution stated that they had three witness who would give evidence.
Judge Vaepule Vaemoa Vaai remanded the Defendant on bail and conditions of bail to continue which includes signing at the Police Station at Poutasi on Wednesdays.
Fa’atuai is alleged to have willfully damaged the Samoan flag which is the property of the Government of Samoa and also allegedly assaulted Adolf Ioane from Afega who tried to stop him from burning the flag infrontn of the Government Building on the 11th April this year.
