APIA: TUESDAY 24JUNE 2014: The young man accused of murdering his own brother has yet to secure a lawyer to represent him in Court.
Levitiko Afoa Fitu, 40 years old from Nofoali’i returned to Court yesterday only to have his matter adjourned to the 14 July 2014.
Fitu asked for Government to appoint a lawyer to represent him two weeks ago, The application was granted an adjournment so Fitu could applied for a lawyer.
However, he turned up un-represented yesterday in Court under the supervision of police.
Police again applied for an adjournment so they could finalize the charges against Fitu.
Fitu is charged with murdering his 57 year old brother between March and April 2013 then buried his body without the knowledge of anyone.
During the celebration of Mother’s Day on the 11 May 2014, Fitu confessed to the killing after his family reminisced about his older brother.
The family were surprised when Fitu knelt before them and confessed.
The police were notified and under the guidance of Fitu, the police located the remains of what police believe is that of his brothers body.
The incident happened at Nofoalii and the matter is adjourned to the 14 July 2014.
