Assistant CEO fined for stealing

APIA: MONDAY 08 OCTOBER 2012: The Assistant CEO of the Ministry of Women and Internal Affairs, Roger Stanley has been fined $1,600 by the District Court.

The 36 year old senior public servant was convicted of theft as a servant and was fined this afternoon by Justice Vui Clarence Nelson $1,000 court costs, $500 of police costs and $100 probation.

The money needs to be paid by midday tomorrow and failing will result in a 6 months jail sentence. Justice Vui Clarence Nelson told the public servant that as an educated person, he should have known better.

“You should have learnt something from this and if you reappear on similar charges, you will be sent to jail.”

The first offender has repaid $1,800 he pleaded guilty of stealing from the Ministry while holding the senior position of Assistant CEO.
