APIA, SAMOA –THURSDAY 07 FEBRUARY 2019: Inter island travel between Upolu and Savaii is still on hold due to the current bad weather.

Since yesterday, the Meteorology Office has issued warnings for heavy rain, flooding and wind advisory for small crafts.

The conditions are caused by a Tropical Disturbance 06F that was located on the West-Northwest of Apia early this morning and is moving South at the speed of 22knots (41kph).

Meanwhile an active convergence zone which links to this system continues to provide heavy rainfall, strong and gusty winds as well as high swells. Looking ahead, the Meteorology Office said the convergence zone will dominate the remainder of the week.

Early this morning, landslides were reported at Solosolo and Luatuanuu villages on the eastern side of Apia and according to the Land and Transport Authority (LTA), the road had since been cleared of mud and rocks but the public is warned to take precaution when traveling through this area.
