APIA, SAMOA – THURSDAY 05 JULY: Supreme Court Judge Niava Mata Tuatagaloa has granted bail to Victory Lesa, who is accused of stealing the gun that went missing from the Ministry of Justice in 2013.
Tuatagaloa heard the bail application yesterday morning from Lesa’s lawyer, Aumua Ming Leung Wai.
Prosecution did not oppose.
Tuatagaloa read out conditions of the bail, that the accused must surrender all his travel documents, and must sign in at the police station on Friday before his case is called for mention on Monday next week.
Lesa was the Deputy Registrar of the Ministry of Justice and has been in police custody accused of stealing the shot rifle that was held for investigations related to the roadblock at Satapuala village in 2013.
The officer is suspended from work to await the outcome of his court case.
