APIA, SAMOA – TUESDAY 15 JANUARY 2019: Simanu’a Manuele of Toamua Uta and Falefa has been sentenced to life in prison following a double murder at Leulumoega village late last year.
Simanu’a pleaded guilty to charges of murder and armed with a dangerous weapon when he appeared before His Honour Patu Tiava’asu’e Falefatu Sapolu this week.
Patu adjourned the matter for sentencing next month but Prosecutor Leone Su’a made an application that Manuele has pleaded guilty to very serious charges.
Justice Sapolu then handed down a life sentence for the 24 year old.
According to police report, Manuele used a machete to kill two men aged 69 and 42 in November last year. The older of the two resided in New Zealand and had been in Samoa for a day when he was murdered.
