“Eliota Sapolu eligible to play” says Samoa Rugby Union

Eliota fronts up to the media amidst his controversial public statements during last years World Cup in New Zealand
APIA: 18 May 2012: The Samoa Rugby Union has clarified the issue surrounding Eliota Sapolu’s eligibility to play and be selected in the Manu Samoa team.
In a statement today, SRU says: “The comments regarding the selection of Eliota Sapolu is based on a misunderstanding of the status of his suspended sentence arising out of his Appeal Committee hearing decision in November 26, 2011.
“Yesterday, SRU sought clarification from the IRB on the status of the player’s suspended sentence and the Union was advised that the player is eligible to play rugby.
“The Manu Samoa Head Coach Stephen Betham and Coaching Staff have been advised accordingly.
“The Union would like to add that at no stage has the iRB issued a directive, written or otherwise, to the SRU relating the selection or non-selection of a player,” the SRU said.

Then let him play.
The SRU Chairman’s comments “the season and its harvesting” (o le fuata ma lona lou) he doesn’t even understand his own meanings. Hence the harvesting for the current season are: Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu, Mahonri Schwalger, Alesana Tuilagi, Seilala Maposua, and George Stowers.
The 2015 World Cup is the season that is four years away.
Stop the rot-cover-up Mr PM SRU Chaiman; you are still not making any sense to me. Mahonri Schwalger sent you his report of many irregularities committed by your cronies during the recent rugby world cup and you ordered a financial report.
I think Mr PM SRU Chairman is long expired; he’s the harvesting of the 1990s season.
The coach need to speak up and Tuilaepa needs not to play politics with ‘GOD’. Every players from the last 2011 Rugby World Cup deserve to be on the Team. Why? This is the ‘next’ step of their preparation for the 2015 RWC in England. They need to spend as much time together to become as ‘one’, a Team that players automatic know what the other player is going to do. Mahonri Schwalger deserve to be on the Team, only because we need his experience from the last 2011 RWC. This is how you solve the problem with players who are struggling with ‘inconsistency’ that you always trying to tell your players, coach Betham. How? Experience players have more matches intelligences to share with younger players when the match with other Big Nations get brutal. This is where the saying in our Samoa language comes in, ‘E MATUA LE PUSI MA SI ANA FELA’U’. We need older World Cup experience players to teach ‘onosa’i’ or patients to younger players so they don’t make mistake at the wrong time, those mistake cause coaches to think and say, “We need consistency”. Player become ‘inconsistence’ when ‘experiences’ are ‘not there’. This is my help for you Mr Betham and Tuilaepa if you want to ‘win’ the WORLD CUP for the PEOPLE OF SAMOA. You need to play Mahonri Schwalger, you need to let Mr Schwalger completed his mission that he stood up for, so our younger players can say ‘it ok to express our opinion of what we think, feel, believe, trust, pray and determine for to be a CHAMPION OF THE WORLD. The is the ‘EDUCATION’ for the next generations that will come up to ‘present’ our name ‘MANU SAMOA WARRIORS’. This is why the IRB put money in to develop the GAME OF RUGBY in SAMOA. It’s all about ‘EDUCATION’, Physical Education(PE). We need to know the ‘mental toughness’ of the game, so we can teach ‘Consistency’ or otherwise coaches will still wonder why players are having ‘inconsistencies’ on their performing in tournament after tournament. GOOD LUCK, please let Mahonri Schwalger play so ‘inconsistencies’ can be resolve. We have to use the opportunity to rise up to the next level, and that is to be the CHAMPION OF THE WORLD 2015. Older players experience more ‘up’ and ‘downs’ in their careers, so they can point out ‘why’. Faafetai Talamua News.
Anyone who has the guts to speak like Eliota has the heart to play the game for his country…you may be well equipped to last the 80minutes but if you don’t possess the ‘heart’ of it all, you’ll be running empty & wither away just like all the others. Understanding all the mechanics of competition make players become better on & off the field.Eliota wasn’t speaking for his family, he spoke for his country..a matter where most people would just drop their heads and walk away.
He is such a great guy and do what most people fear to do. That is stand up for the little guy and is not afraid of the big shots. Freedom of speech. Strange that hearsay holds so much water when it comes to journalism. Yet in courts its as useless as wet toilet paper. Rather than to silence people IRB why not look after your smaller children and make the sport what your charter say. Fair for all.
