Fa’afafine advocate appears for theft and forgery

APIA: Tuesday 26th June 2012: A longtime President of the Fa’afafine Association and advocate of transvestites’ rights has appeared in Court on nine charges of theft, forgery and falsifying documents.

The charges against To’oto’oalii Roger Stanley however stem from his work as the Assistant Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Women, Community and Social Development.

He appeared in Court yesterday on one count of theft as a servant, six of forgery and two for falsifying documents. His lawyer Alex Su’a entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

Chief Justice Tiavaasue Falefatu Sapolu remanded him on bail on the condition that he surrender all his travel documents and sign in at the Police Station at Apia every Monday and Thursday  before 12 noon.

The matter has been adjourned to the 3rd December for hearing.
