Fiji flood damage

By Seema Deo

FIJI: The Fijian Community and Friends in Samoa held a flood appeal on Saturday afternoon 14th April at the Alafua Campus.

The Fijian Community acknowledges the support from individuals and organizations that enabled the raising of WST9120.00.

8,000 people were forced to take shelter in evacuations centres, with three confirmed deaths due to the extreme rain and subsequent floods of late March and April. Water and electricity were cut off in many parts of western and northern Viti Levu , Fiji’s main island. Clean up after the floods continues.

The flood appeal will remain open until Friday 20th April and those interested to support the appeal can contact Seci on 7593952 or e-mail Epeli on epelit@sprep.org. Funds raised will be sent to the Fiji Prime Minister’s Flood Appeal.
