Woman CEO heads the Accident Compensation Corporation

The new Chief Executive Officer for the Accident Compensation Corporation Mrs. Muliagatele Makelita

APIA: THURSDAY 12 FEBRUARY 2015: Cabinet has appointed a woman Chief Executive Officer for the Accident Compensation Corporation. She is Mrs. Muliagatele Makelita Tufuga Matafeo. She replaces Malae’ulu Lose Niumata who resigned at the end of December 2014 after serving the Corporation for 27 years of which he served 19 years as CEO.

Prior to her appointment as CEO, Muliagatele was the Accounts Manager in the Corporation for 18 years. She holds a Bachelor of Business (major in Accounting) from LA Trobe University, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.

Muliagatele hails from the villages of Asau and Samalae’ulu in Savai’i and is married to Tagaloasa Uili Matafeo and have two children.

She is also the Vice President of the St. Mary’s Old Girls Association.

She is the second woman to head the Corporation, the first being Ms. Tua Hansell when the then newly formed organisation was called the Accident Compensation Board.
