APIA: 4 Feb 2010: The Samoan Women’s National team have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in
the 3 match series that started yesterday in Apia, and have now qualified for the 2010 Pepsi ICC EAP Women’s Cricket Trophy to be held in Sano, Japan in May 2010.
Fijian Captain and star batter Losi was adjudged L.B.W early in the innings to local star Perelini, and from there the wickets fell steadily, with Mulivai, Fou and Regina Lilii all bowling well.
Fiji were eventually dismissed for a disappointing 38, however several of their young players showed some composure and commitment at the crease against a strong bowling attack.
Samoa chased down the total with ease in under 7 overs, with Tina Macumber (13*) and Perelini Mulitalo (14*) batting well.
Samoa now looks forward to preparing for the 2010 Pepsi ICC EAP Women’s Cricket Trophy in Sano, Japan in May 2010. The tournament promises to be an extremely close one, with PNG, Japan and Samoa all looking evenly matched.
