New U.S. Envoy to Samoa

APIA: 22 Feb 2010: The new U.S. Ambassador to Samoa and New Zealand, David Huebner is visiting Samoa this week and will present his credentials to His Highness the Head of State at ten Tuesday morning. The American Envoy will also meet with the Prime Minister, government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, the private sector and educational institutions.
The Ambassador will also visit the Habitat for Humanity Tsunami Recovery Housing project at Aleipata this afternoon. The Ambassador will host a reception onboard the U.S.Coast Guard WALNUT, berthed at Apia Harbor and will present a grant of computers to the Samoa Primary School at Vailele Uta.
On Thursday afternoon, the Ambassador will launch the American Corner Project at the Nelson Memorial Library.
Space has been provided on the second floor of the Nelson Library for the Embassy to supply reference, fiction, non-fiction and children materials for the Library including computers and free internet for public use.
The Ambassador will also visit the National University of Samoa and will talk with the students about U.S. foreign policy, Pacific engagement and education.
