Japan hands Over Mobile Dental Vehicle to National Health Services

APIA, SAMOA – FRIDAY 12 OCTOBER 2018: The Government of Japan continues its commitment in its growing partnership with the Government of Samoa through promoting the health and well-being of the people of Samoa.

A mobile dental vehicle valued at JPY 71,700,000 was handed over yesterday by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa, H.E. Maugaoleatuolo Shinya Aoki to the Associate Minister of Health, Hon. Salausa Dr. John Ah Ching on behalf of the National Health Services (NHS).

The dental vehicle was supplied to the Government of Samoa based on the Exchange of Notes signed on 29 April 2018 between the Ambassador of Japan and the Prime Minster.

In February 2018, Dental equipment and Fire Engines were handed over to the NHS and Fire Emergency Services Authority respectively.

Japan believes that with good health system will eventually assist in nation building in the future which considers health-closely related to people’s welfare a top agenda of the Japan-Samoa relations.

It is expected that with this assistance, the NHS and its dental clinic will go a long way in strengthening and improving oral health care outreach programmes to several communities and schools across Samoa.
