APIA: THURSDAY 28 MARCH 2013: A lawyer has been charged with contempt of court in connection with a matter before the Land and Titles Court.
Members of lawyer Fa’aolasa Kakopau Ainu’u’s family are also charged with the same offence.
The matter stems from a dispute over land.
The family’s matai title of Faualo is vacant and until someone is appointed to hold it no development may be carried out on the land that is in dispute.
When the matter went before the court the ruling was for all the parties in the dispute to meet and resolve the dispute.
That hasn’t been achieved yet, but Fa’aolasa and co-defendants are alleged to have gone ahead and built a house on the land.
The matter was called today in the Supreme Court and was adjourned to next month.
