Man pleads guilty to unlawful conversion

APIA: WEDNESDAY 14 AUGUST 2013: A man pleaded guilty through counsel to three counts of theft and three counts of unlawful conversion in the District Court today. 

Charlie Tavita, of Palisi, will be sentenced on 9 September.

Tavita was remanded on continuing bail in the meantime.

He was part of a team that stole motor vehicles and converted them with the intention of re-selling them.

Another member of the team, Chris Stehlin, has already been sentenced to three years jail.

Four charges of theft and unlawful conversion against Tavita’s wife Donna Tavita were dismissed today.
