Manu Samoa Sevens decked by BLK for Las Vegas
APIA, SAMOA – FRIDAY 23 FEBRUARY 2018: The Manu Samoa Sevens if off to the Las Vegas Sevens next weekend decked in new apparel following yesterday’s launch in Apia.
It’s the start of a four-year agreement between the Samoa Rugby Union and BLK Fiji to supply apparel for all Samoa teams.
The SRU Chief Executive Officer, Faleomavaega Vincent Fepulea’i says the deal means BLK will supply all Samoa Rugby Union teams – including the women‘s teams.
SRU has had supply contracts with others in the past and had been looking at a supplier that comes in handy to supply and meeting the union’s demands.
“They can produce gears for us at last minute orders and it is quite a high demand with the last minute changes when players get injured and so forth. So those are the positive side,” said Faleomavaega.
The agreement also involves promoting Samoan rugby and teams in various markets and for the union to earn merchandising revenue from other gears the company will sell.
BLK’s John Matau said the company is very glad with the partnership as they always support the underdogs knowing the potential of Samoan rugby and its place in the sport.
Before announcing the Manu Samoa Sevens team for Las Vegas, Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens assured the sponsors that the team gives it 200% effort every time it runs on to the field.
Following a much improved performance in the last leg in Hamilton, he noted that the competition is getting very competitive and ruthless “and a single bad call or mistake can cost a game.”
The team decked in the new uniform then came up as their names were called out one by one.
