APIA: THURSDAY 09 NOVEMBER 2012: The new Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture, Falana’ipupu Tanielu Aiafi kicked off his first day at work with a press conference this morning.
First on his agenda was to work together with various divisions of the Ministry to develop and take the education system to another step and a plea to work together with the media.
Falana’ipupu is not new to the education sector as he was a lecturer before taking up the Registrar’s position at the National University of Samoa.
From there, he successfully applied for the position of Secretary with the South Pacific Commission in Fiji. A post he held until he was recalled to serve Samoa as the CEO of Ministry of Education.
Falana’ipupu’s focus is on “quality and fair education for all”. He stressed the importance of education in grooming the future of a person. He credits former CEO Galumalemana Nu’ufou Petaia for a great job and “making it easier for me”.
