Nurses plead not guilty to babies’ death

APIA, SAMOA – MONDAY 3 SEPTEMBER 2018: The two nurses accused over the death of two babies at Safotu Hospital minutes after receiving their MMR vaccination last July, have pleaded not guilty.

The two senior nurses, Luse Emo Tauvale and Leutogi Te’o entered their not guilty pleas in the Supreme Court today.

Luse Emo Tauvale, a nurse of more than 30 years of service is being charged of conspiracy to defeat the course of justice and manslaughter, while Leutogi Te’o is facing one charge of manslaughter.

The matter is scheduled for hearing 21 January 2019.
