APIA: FRIDAY 23 AUGUST 2013: The Samoa College Old Pupils Association (SCOPA) is holding a Tausala and Manaia competition tomorrow night to fund raise for a gym for the school.
The competition is opened to all classes but the class of 1978 has been given the honour to open the night with their siva.

“The class of 1978 has contributed so much to the development of the school, “ said SCOPA President Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi.

Samoa College principal Rimoni Rimoni hopes the project – estimated cost $400 000 to $500 000 – will be finished before the school break at the end of the year.

SCOPA celebrated its 60th anniversary in June this year and according to the President the Tausala and Manaia fundraising event is part of the celebrations.

More events to support the development of the school are planned.

SCOPA New Zealand will round off celebrations of the 60th anniversary with an event of their own end of the year.

The 50th anniversary raised alot of funds for a school hall which was later taken over by the Government when the project had financial difficulties and remain a scare for many of the old pupils and had kept them away from the current fundraising efforts.
