One death on White Sunday holiday

APIA, SAMOA: TUESDAY 13 OCTOBER 2015: A car accident at Falefa yesterday claimed the life of Christopher Limu, a 29 year old man of  New Zealand and Falefa.

According to police reports, the deceased has only been in Samoa 2 days prior to yesterday’s incident.

Reports also said the deceased was talking to someone beside the road when the car driven by Vavao  Monike, also of Falefa ran him down.

Police reports stated that  Monike was driving under the influence of alcohol at a very high speed, and police suspected that he fell asleep while driving causing his Mitsubishi  vehicle to veer off the road and straight to where the deceased was.

The report also said that quick action by  the woman who was  talking with the deceased saved her  from the speeding car.

Monike was brought into the police office in Apia where a breath tests were conducted, and according to police report, he had a high portion of alcohol on his body.

He was held under police custody while investigation continue and he faces the charge of negligent driving causing death.
