The Pacific Jewel anchored in the Apia port as home of some 820 SIDS delegates

APIA: WEDNSDAY 27 AUGUST 2014: The Pacific Jewel Cruise liner that will accommodate 812 delegates for the UN SIDS conference anchored at the Apia Port midday today.
The PO Liner also brought in 100 New Zealand Police officers who will join Australian police officers to assist local police in the overall security of the conference.
The Small Islands Developing States Conference is expected to bring in 3,000 delegates from the UN members as well as non-members who share the same environmental and economic issues as other island nations.
Last night, the government committee in charge of accommodations for the conference said the final figure for delegates coming will be more than 3,000. The Pacific Jewel will accommodate most but the rest are shared between available hotels and resorts as well as private homes that have acquired the standard set as accommodations for the UN delegates.
The P&Q Pacific Jewel cruise will be at the Apia wharf until 5 September.
