Philippine dead fisherman on boat in Apia

APIA: Tuesday 17 July 2012: The dead body of a 21 year old male from the Philippines, Zen Richard Gedang will be transferred to his country after Police investigations in Apia.

The fishermen reportedly died last weekend onboard the fishing boat MV Maru from Philippines.

The Police Assistant Commissioner Leaupepe Fatu Pula, confirmed that the fishing boat arrived at the Matautu Wharf on Saturday last week.

“Some of the MV Maru crew said that Zen was his first time in their crew when they left their country 5th of June and he was sick on the boat last week,” said the Assistant Commissioner.

He also said that the Captain told Police that he headed towards Samoa and anchored in port in search for help.”

The Betham Brother’s Shipping Company is in charge of transferring the body to the fisherman’s country when Police investigations are completed.
