APIA, SAMOA – WEDNESDAY 11 JULY 2018: The Police Commissioner Fuiavailli Egon Keil has been reappointed to head the Ministry of Police for another three years.

Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi, who is also the Minister of Police confirmed the appointment on the weekly news programme with Talamua last night.

“Yes, Cabinet has already made its decision, and he won about an “inch” of my index finger against three other applicants.”

Fuiavailili declined to comment when approached by Talamua several days ago, as he had yet to be notified officially.

Fuiavailili’s first three years was marred by rejection from the police senior quarters and resulted in his arrest, suspension and months of court cases until over 100 charges were dismissed for lack of evidence.

Before he was appointed as Police Commissioner, Fuiavailili’s worked in the Los Angeles Police Department as an Assistant Watch Commander from 2005 to 2012. He worked as a LAPD Field Patrol Supervisor (Sergaent).  He started his carreer in the LAPD in 1995 after serving one year as Prison Guard in the Department of Corrections for the State of Utah.
