APIA: THURSDAY 13 FEBRUARY 2014: Former business partners from overseas of an Associate Minister have laid complaints against him with Police.
The Police are investigating the complaints against Associate Minister Muagututagata Peter Ah Him, Acting Commissioner of Police, Fauono Talalelei Tapu confirmed.
Acting Commissioner Tapu couldn’t immediately say what the complaints are.
He said the investigation is based on complaints from Muagututagata’s two former Asian business partners in Grand Ocean Industries (Samoa) Ltd (GOIL).
In May last year his partners took Muagututagata to court when he refused to release containers that belonged to the company which were stored at his premises in Taufusi, a mixed business and residential area just inland of Apia.
The court ruled in favour of the partners – Hui Fang of China and Tao-Yu-Chang of Taiwan – and the containers were released to them.
Muagututagata owned 10 percent of Grand Ocean Industry (Samoa) Company Ltd, Fang 20 percent with the Taiwanese the majority shareholder.
The company was registered on 7 November 2012 and the application for operation was submitted on February 15 last year.
