APIA, SAMOA: TUESDAY 09 FEBRUARY 2016: An election billboard that has been badly damaged with the head of the election candidate removed has been referred to Police to investigate.

Candidate for the Urban West Seat, Faumuina Asi Pauli Wayne Fong is also offering a $2,000 tala reward to whoever can provide information to identify who is responsible.

The billboard located at the cross section at the Sinamoga Bridge was damaged yesterday afternoon.

Faumuina said he sought the permission of the landowner before the billboard was erected. He also sought the permission of the village mayor as well as the consent of the former MP for the Singamoga village who is also an election candidate.

Faumuina is among four candidates competing for the newly created Urban West seat and is up against former MP Maualaivao Pat Ah Him, lawyer Matamua Fred Amoa and former education CEO, Matafeo Tanielu Aiafi.

The vandalized billboard was removed yesterday evening.

This year’s general election has seen an upsurge in candidates using billboards and posters erected around the town area even though the constituencies they are competing for are in the rural villages and Savai’i Island.
