Police officers recover from ‘booby’ trap injuries

APIA, SAMOA – MONDAY 21 JUNE 2016: The two police officers who were injured by booby traps during a drug raid last week have recovered and are back on active duty this week.

The Police spokesperson, Inspector Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona said the officers were injured from nails used as booby traps that were buried underground around the marijuana farm the police raided at Vailu’utai last week.

A 35 year old man and his 31 year old wife and a 20 year old male were among those arrested and will appear in court 28 of this month.

They are charged with the cultivation and possession of marijuana on their land.

“The police raid found 414 marijuana plants, 108 seeds, one 12 gauge shotgun, one 22 rifle single shotgun and 18 bullets.”

Three others were held by police for investigation and have yet to be charged.
