RUGBY: Manu Samoa improve strategies to take on Italy

By Tulifau Auva’a

APIA: FRIDAY 13 JUNE 2014: The management and coach for the Manu Samoa team has restructured its strategies against Italy this Saturday to avoid the mistakes witnessed in last week’s game against Tonga’s Ikale Tahi.

“The team did not work together and there were defense errors which we are trying to minimize for this week’s game,” said Coach Stephen Betham.

“There was no urgency in the game with Tonga,” he said but did not elaborate.

He admitted his team did not play to the expectations last week and after reviewing the game, he opted to make changes for Saturday’s game.

Betham made it clear during today’s press conference that they need to win, although Italy is on a summer tour to test their team for the upcoming World Cup.

Manu Samoa only came as a group when they arrived in Samoa last week and they need to work together and familiarize themselves with each others style of playing if they want to win.
