Samoa Sevens quietly eye Hong Kong title
APIA: 19 March 2012: Samoa sevens veteran Uale Ma’i continues to climb in his record breaking sevens campaign as he leads the Samoa Sevens team in this weekends Hong Kong IRB Circuit.
The former IRB Player of the year teams up with Lolo Lui once again as they try to win the most coveted Sevens accolade which they won three years ago and securing Samoas only overall Cup Championship.
Both players were injured in the Las Vegas leg where young players Fa’atoina Autagavaia, Paul Perez, Robert Lilomaiava and Taulagi Afamasaga stepped up with veterans Afa Aiono, Reupena Levasa, and the mecurial Alafoti Faosiliva to secure the Cup in a thrilling final against New Zealand.
The team also includes new player, Ken Pisi, the youngest of the Pisi brothers who play for the Manu Samoa in last years World Cup.
Coach Stephen Betham says he wants the team to improve its standing to as far up as third from its current No.6. placing.
