SASNOC Chief bestowed chiefly title

APIA: 24 May 2012: Top sports administrator, SASNOC President Tapasu Leung Wai has a new chiefly title when he was bestowed the Nu’u title at Vailoa village, Faleata district last weekend.
The new title holder was blessed in a somber ceremony by two church ministers, Reverend Faapaia Ariu and Reverend Meatuai Fa’asavalu and attended by the important chiefs and orators of the Faleata district.
After the blessing, former Cabinet Minister, talking chief Ulu Vaomalo Ulu Kini blessed the new title holder in the traditional Samoan manner.
Nu’u Tapasu Leung Wai and his family then made traditional presentations for the church ministers and the traditional representatives of the district.
Nu’u Tapasu Leung Wai is a former Member of Parliament and has been a longtime President of the Samoa Association of Sports and National Olympics Committee and the Principal of the communications engineering company ProCom.
He holds the title previously held by his late uncle, Nu’u Pouniu, who passed away in 2010.
