Tanifa Samoa crashes in first day of competition softball

APIA: 12 Feb 2009: Tanifa Samoa has crashed to third place early in the Softball Pacific Cup Series in Apia with losses to the BlackSox 5-3 and to Japan 9-2 in the first day of competition.

The BlackSox is determined to win the series but this will be sorted out in the opening matches of the second day of competition at the Faleata Diamond today. Japan’s management had been evasive since arriving in Samoa hinting that the hot weather maybe a deterrent to the their team.

The Pacific Cup was created in 2005 to give the four countries, including Australia that did not field a team this year, the chance at high level competition in between the World Champs. The BlackSox is using the tournament as further screening ground for their team for the upcoming World Series in Canada in July.
