Two female students are victims in two separate rape cases

APIA, SAMOA: THURSDAY 09 JUNE 2016: An 18 year old male will appear in Court 27 of this month to answer charges of alleged rape of a 14 year old female student from Savai’i. The matter was reported to the Police last Friday where the girl told Police the suspect had threatened her not to tell the full story of what had happened.

In a separate incident, a 20 year old female student at the Faculty of Nursing, National University of Samoa has also laid rape charges against a 39 year old taxi driver.

According to Police, the incident happened after the Independence March past, Wednesday 01 June at the Tuana’imato Sports complex.

The victim is reported to have taken the taxi home, but instead the driver took her to the Faleata neighbourhood where the incident allegedly happened.

The 29 year old taxi driver is reported to have had similar charges in the past and is married with his wife and family in Savaii.

Police say the victim reported the incident to the Police around 2pm on Wednesday last week.

The suspects for both incidents are in police custody and will appear in court 27th of this month.
