APIA: WEDNESDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2013: Police in Apia are still awaiting the result of a post mortem on a man who died in a shoot-out with Police in May last year.
There was no pathologist in Samoa to conduct the post mortem.
A pathologist from New Zealand for a separate death carried out the operation on Togia Rapi Lelevaga, of Faleatiu, who died in the shootout.
A team of six forensic experts from New Zealand also investigated Togia’s death.
The results have yet to be sent from New Zealand, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Leaupepe Fatu Pula said.
The post mortem was to determine whether Togia died from a bullet fired from a police gun or someone else’s gun.
The shootout occurred when police raided Togia’s family’s property at Faleatiu on 7May last year.
Three police officers were also wounded in the shootout.
