APIA: THURSDAY 18 APRIL 2013: Manu Samoa 7’s winger Paul Perez needs an operation on his troublesome right knee.

“It’s not 100 percent strong,” Perez said.

Perez said an X-ray of his injury was sent to a doctor in New Zealand who replied that an operation was needed to repair ligament damage.

He was noticeably tentative in his play at the Hong Kong tournament.

He didn’t take the field in the Japan tournament.

The 26 year old is scheduled to take up a three-year contract with French club Biarritz Olympique in late June/July.

Perez confirmed he was not available for Manu Samoa for the remaining legs of the IRB sevens World Series, in Glasgow, Scotland on 4-5 May and London, England on 11-12 May.

The knee injury kept the 1.82 m, 102 kg, winger out of rugby in 2011.

It came right but got damaged again in the Dubai tournament last year.

That was a risk not worth at all when you played in the HK sevens.Talosia le taotoga ia manuia.Otherwise you’ll miss out on the contract,if you don’t pass your medical, and that will hurt.
