APIA, SAMOA – 11 APRIL 2020: Over 100 people quarantined in the past 14 days have all been released with the exception of 19 sailors currently quarantined on board the Lady Naomi 111, a few meters from the Matautu wharf.
Prime Minister Tuilaepa Lupesoliai Sailele Malielegaoi told Radio 2AP today that Lady Naomi 111 recently returned from Fiji after dry dock and the crew has to comply with the SOE 14 days mandatory quarantine.
The sailors 14 days of quarantine will be over next Tuesday. There will also be follow up assessment for everyone under quarantine.
Travellers into Samoa during the Covid-19 SOE have been isolated at the Faleolo Heath Centre, LDS Mulifanua, St. Therese Leauva’a, Tradition Hotel Ululoloa, Orator Hotel and the Moanalisa Hotel at Vaitele.
Samoa free of COVID-19
As of today, Samoa has no confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The last 12 samples sent for test in New Zealand came back last Thursday and all negative.
At the moment, Samoa is among the remaining 15 countries in the world that are still COVID-19 free.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 test kits from China are expected to arrive later this month and Samoa will be able to conduct the tests locally.
Despite the good results, the State Of Emergency continues to be enforced with the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) operating from the Post Office central building in Apia.
