Government allocates $2m talā in homes for vulnerable communities

APIA, SAMOA – 07 FEBRUARY 2022: The FAST Government has delivered on one its election promises by allocating $2m tala to help the vulnerable communities build hygienic homes.

“Government is fully committed to continue this programme as it is in line with the Government’s strategic priorities and ensuring that the most vulnerable in our communities are provided the assistance in improving their homes and livelihood during these unprecedented times,” said the Minister of Finance, Mulipola Anarosa Molio’o.

The project is implemented in partnership with ADRA & Caritas Samoa, and the funds were allocated in the current FY2021/2022 budget.

This Governments assistance through ADRA and Caritas Samoa will:

  • Boost the livelihoods of the most vulnerable families identified by building secure shelters for homes;
  • Improve living conditions and provide proper sanitation facilities for families’ protection against Covid-19 and other related diseases;
  • Equip families without access to water with water tanks to better adapt to natural disasters & emergencies;

The Minister acknowledged the charitable work carried out by ADRA & Caritas Samoa over the years for the Samoan people and taking up this programme to continue help the vulnerable people and families.
